Crux
As an undergraduate at Duke University, I was an artist for Crux: A Journal of Christian Thought at Duke. The Crux team asked me to do the illustration for the cover of the Spring 2019 issue. They requested a portrait of Kate Spade, who is mentioned in one of the magazine articles. Additionally, I was asked to draw four anonymous portraits for the “#CureStigma” article.
Senses of Venice
I collaborated with a team of three undergraduates, a faculty supervisor, and a Dreamworks producer to facilitate an interactive, immersive exhibition entitled Senses of Venice, September 2019, in the Chappell gallery at Duke Libraries. I conducted research, collected imagery, wrote and edited content, and designed the visuals to be used in the exhibition displays. I was charged with designing the main wall of the exhibit, which is 9 ft x 28 ft. I selected the fonts, the colors, and worked with my faculty supervisor to design a photo mosaic that captured the idea of Venice as a kaleidoscope of sensory experiences.
Duke Blue Devil Model
I was invited to aid Duke’s OIT department and students from a CS408 class for a project that ultimately resulted in a virtual reality experience of the Duke Blue Devil mascot, navigable via mobile app. In order to design the Blue Devil, I first created a generic human model in Adobe Fuse. Then, I imported it into the design software Blender, which gave me the freedom to be able to virtually sculpt the 3D model’s features. My role was to create the underlying form, focusing on the basic features of the face, and then I handed off the model to another individual for the addition of texture.
Bench
I designed and painted the bench outside of the Jarvis dorm, looking to Edvard Munch’s The Scream for inspiration.
